Why we picked it

Two figures in this listing are genuinely useful, and they are useful for the same reason: you can compare them against other products rather than taking them on trust.

The first is 2800 GSM. Grams per square metre measures how much material is packed into a given area, and it is the standard way textile density gets quantified. It matters here because density, more than thickness, determines how a low pile rug wears. A sparsely packed pile crushes into visible traffic paths; a densely packed one braces each fibre against its neighbours. None of these name a testing body, a sample size, or a methodology. They may be based on internal surveys, they may be based on nothing in particular. Treat them as marketing rather than data. The same applies to the savings figures, since saving 500 dollars a year on cleaning and 1000 dollars on furniture assumes a baseline nobody has defined.

That scepticism does not extend to the GSM figure or the ASTM reference, which are specific and checkable. It is worth separating the two kinds of claim rather than dismissing or accepting the whole listing.

One realistic note: a 10 to 30 minute drying time is plausible for a thin rug hung to dry in warm conditions, and optimistic in a cold room or folded over a rail. Give it longer if the backing feels cool.
