Arc Floor Lamp 64.7 Inch, EDISHINE Black Foot Switch

Foot switch Memory function 78.7 inch cord

What we like

Memory function means it comes back on at your last setting, not a default.

Worth knowing

A single 8W bulb makes this a reading light rather than a room-filling lamp.

Why we picked it

Two features here are absent from every other floor lamp we have covered, and both are the kind of small convenience that matters daily rather than impressing on a spec sheet.

The first is the memory function. Most multi-temperature lamps reset to a default when switched off, so if you prefer warm light you re-select it every single time. This one restores whatever setting you last used, which means you choose your preference once rather than nightly.

It sounds trivial until you have owned a lamp that does the opposite.

The second is the foot switch. Rotary and touch controls both require finding the lamp with your hand, which means reaching across furniture or fumbling in the dark. A foot switch sits on the floor near the base where you can find it without looking, and it works when your hands are full of a book, a mug or a laundry basket.

It is also the most robust switch type here. No dimming electronics to fail, no touch sensor to misread a pet brushing past, no restriction on which bulbs you can fit.

The 78.7 inch cord is the longest in this category, at nearly six and a half feet against the 6.7 feet quoted elsewhere. On a floor lamp that is a genuinely practical spec, because corners are usually the furthest point in a room from a socket, and running out of cord means either an extension lead or moving the lamp somewhere you did not want it.

The head adjusts 90 degrees vertically and 180 degrees horizontally, so you can aim light at a book, a chair or a wall rather than only lighting whatever sits directly beneath. Combined with the arc form, that lets the shade reach out over a sofa or chair while the base stays clear of the seating.

Now the output, which needs stating plainly. This is a single 8W bulb, roughly 800 lumens. The three-head tree lamps in this category deliver 2400, and the arc lamp with rotating arms manages 3000. So this produces around a third of what a multi-head lamp does.

That makes it a reading and task lamp, which the arc form and adjustable head both suit. It is not the lamp to buy if you want one fixture to light a whole living room.

Three colour temperatures are included in the bulb: 3000K warm, 4000K natural and 6500K cool. As elsewhere, 6500K is very cool and belongs over a desk rather than in a bedroom.

The honest take

What we like

  • Memory function saves reselecting your colour setting every time
  • Foot switch works with full hands and needs no hunting in the dark
  • Longest cord in this category at 78.7 inches
  • Head adjusts on two axes for aiming light precisely
  • Arc form reaches over seating while the base stays clear
  • No dimming electronics or touch sensors to fail

Worth knowing

  • One 8W bulb gives roughly a third the output of a three-head lamp
  • No dimming, only three fixed colour temperature settings
  • 6500K is very cool and unsuitable for evening bedroom use
  • No lumen figure or base weight published
  • A foot switch on the cord is one more thing to position tidily

Switch it on without using your hands
