On the sensible reading, 23 inches suits a mattress top of roughly 21 to 25 inches, which covers a standard bed, and the 16.5 inch depth sits comfortably in the middle of this category.

At 44 pounds it is heavy for a two-drawer unit, and that weight is consistent with solid bamboo rather than veneered board. The stated capacity is 100 pounds, which is comfortably beyond anything a bedside surface carries.

Two things not stated: the drawer glide type, described only as smooth-gliding, and whether there is any power. This has no charging station, so if outlets at the surface matter to you, other nightstands in this category offer them.
