Why we picked it
The efficiency here is the best we have measured, and the jar shape explains why.
At 22 ounces burning up to 150 hours, this works out at roughly 6.8 hours per ounce of wax. Another single-wick jar candle publishing 19 ounces and 85 hours manages 4.5, and a three-wick candle around 3.1. That makes this comfortably over 50 percent more efficient per ounce than the next best single-wick candle we have covered.
The reason is geometry. This jar is 4 inches wide and 6.8 inches tall, which makes it the only candle here that is taller than it is wide. Every other jar we have looked at is a wide, shallow dish.
A narrow jar means the flame only has to melt a small surface, so a single wick can maintain a full melt pool while consuming relatively little wax per hour. A wide jar forces either a bigger flame or more wicks, both of which burn faster. Depth is stored hours; width is spent hours.
It also makes tunnelling far less likely. The wax only has to melt two inches outward from the wick to reach the glass rather than two and a half or more, so the first burn is much more forgiving than on a wide jar. Two hours will typically do it.
Now the honest counterweight, and it is specific to this shape.
As a tall jar burns down, the flame sits progressively deeper inside the glass. That restricts airflow to the flame and puts the melted surface further from the room, so scent throw weakens noticeably in the last third of the candle even though there is plenty of wax left. Soot on the upper glass becomes more likely too.
This is a well-known trade with tall jar candles, and it is worth knowing before you buy one for a large room. The listing’s claim of consistent fragrance from first to last burn is optimistic on a jar of this proportion. You will get the hours; the last stretch of them will be quieter.
The natural-fibre wick is a genuine detail. Cheaper wicks use a paper or metal core to hold them upright, and cored wicks can burn hotter and produce more soot. A natural-fibre wick curls slightly as it burns, which helps it self-trim and keeps the flame smaller and cleaner.
It still needs trimming to a quarter inch before each burn, but it is more forgiving if you forget once.
On the wax, the listing says plant wax blend without naming the plant. That is vaguer than the soy blend descriptions used elsewhere, and it tells you it is not pure paraffin without telling you much more. Read it as a blend rather than as a pure plant wax candle.
Clean Cotton is one of the most broadly liked fragrances in home scent, and for a reason. Fresh laundry sits in a category most people find pleasant and few find intrusive, which makes it the safer choice for a hallway, a guest room, or anywhere a strong seasonal scent would be too much.
At 150 hours, that matters more than it sounds. A neutral fresh scent is far easier to live with over weeks than a dessert or spice fragrance you might tire of.

The honest take
What we like
- Best efficiency we have measured at roughly 6.8 hours per ounce
- Over 50 percent more efficient than the next best single wick candle here
- Narrow jar means a more forgiving first burn and less tunnelling risk
- Natural fibre wick self trims a little and burns cleaner than a cored wick
- A fresh neutral scent is easier to live with across 150 hours
- Both weight and burn time published, so efficiency can be checked
Worth knowing
- Scent throw weakens in the last third as the flame sits deeper in the jar
- The consistent first to last burn claim is optimistic for a tall jar
- Soot on the upper glass is more likely as the wax level drops
- Plant wax blend is vague, with no plant named
- A single wick in a large jar gives a gentler throw than a three wick candle
More hours per ounce than anything else here
