A pedestal base behaves differently from legs, and it is the main reason to choose a table like this.

Most coffee tables put a leg at or near each corner. That is structurally simple, but it means the corners are occupied: a rug edge, a footstool or a sofa cannot come closer than the leg allows, and vacuuming means working around four obstacles.

Now the contradiction in the listing, and it matters here. The specification table gives the height as 16.54 inches. The third bullet point says 19.68 inches. Those are more than three inches apart.

The specification figure is almost certainly the right one. The three dimensions there convert to clean metric numbers, 120 by 60 by 42 centimetres, which is how furniture of this kind is designed and manufactured. The 19.68 inch figure is exactly 50 centimetres, which looks like a measurement carried over from a different item rather than this one.

It matters because 16.54 inches sits in the normal coffee table range, comfortably below a typical 17 to 19 inch sofa seat. A genuine 19.68 inches would be taller than most sofa seats, which is unusual and would feel wrong to reach down to. Expect the lower figure, and measure your sofa seat before ordering either way.

The depth is worth a thought that length usually gets instead. At 23.62 inches this is deep for a coffee table, which buys real surface area but puts the far edge beyond comfortable reach from a deep-seated sofa. If you tend to eat at the table rather than beside it, that reach matters more than the 47 inch length does.

Black is doing something specific on a base like this. A dark finish makes a solid pedestal recede visually, which partly offsets the mass. The same base in a pale oak would read considerably bulkier in the middle of a room, so the colour is working structurally rather than only decoratively.
