Shag Rug 8×10 Feet, Luxturiy Plush Memory Foam Black
What we like
A memory foam interlayer is genuinely uncommon and it does more for comfort than pile height alone.
Worth knowing
Despite the washable wording, this is hand wash only. High pile and machines don’t mix.

Why we picked it
Every other rug we have covered has been low pile, under half an inch, built around washability. This one goes the opposite direction entirely: a 1.4 inch shag pile over a 0.4 inch memory foam layer, for a total thickness of 1.8 inches. That is not a variation on the same product, it is a different thing solving a different problem.
The memory foam interlayer is the part worth paying attention to. Pile height alone determines how soft a rug feels to the hand, but what it feels like to stand on comes mostly from what sits underneath. A high pile with no support compresses straight to the floor and you feel the hard surface through it. A foam layer keeps giving, which is why this can reasonably claim to relieve foot fatigue where a plain shag cannot.
It is also the reason this will do considerably more for room acoustics than any low pile rug. Sound absorption depends on mass and air trapped in the material, and 1.8 inches of pile over foam has far more of both than a third of an inch of flat weave. In a room with hard floors, this is the version that noticeably quiets things down.
Now the trade-off, and the listing does not state it plainly enough. The word washable appears throughout the copy, but the actual care instructions say hand wash in cold water, lay flat to air dry, and do not machine dry. That is not machine washable. High pile and washing machines genuinely do not mix, because deep pile holds enormous amounts of water and takes days to dry through, with mildew risk in the backing if it does not.
So the honest comparison is this: the low pile rugs elsewhere on this site trade comfort for washability. This one trades washability for comfort. Both are legitimate, but you should know which trade you are making.
Two more things follow from the high pile. It traps dirt and pet hair deep down where a vacuum on low setting struggles to reach, and the listing advises shaking it outdoors, which is impractical at 8 by 10 feet. And furniture legs will sink in and leave dents that a shag pile recovers from slowly, if at all.
This is a rug for a bedroom, a nursery floor, or a reading corner where people sit on it. It is a poor choice for a dining area, a hallway, or under a heavy sofa.
One practical note the listing gets right: it ships vacuum compressed, and needs two to three days laid flat to recover full loft. Do not judge the plushness on day one.

The honest take
What we like
- Memory foam interlayer does more for underfoot comfort than pile height alone
- 1.8 inches total is by far the best sound absorption of any rug we have covered
- Genuinely soft to sit and lie on, which low pile rugs are not
- Anti slip dots over felt is a more substantial backing than a rubber coating
- Honest that it ships compressed and needs days to recover loft
Worth knowing
- Hand wash only, despite washable appearing throughout the listing copy
- High pile traps dirt and pet hair deep where vacuuming struggles
- Furniture legs sink in and leave dents that recover slowly
- Shaking it outdoors is impractical at 8 by 10 feet
- Wrong choice for dining areas, hallways, or under heavy furniture
