Table Lamps

Slim Ceramic Table Lamps, Set of 2, 24 Inch White

4.5 inch base 24 inch height 2 year warranty

What we like

The slimmest profile here: full height on a footprint barely wider than a coffee mug.

Worth knowing

Tall and narrow with no weighted base mentioned, so stability is worth considering.

Why we picked it

The dimensions here are unusual enough to be the reason to consider these. 24 inches tall on a 4.5 inch base is a proportion most table lamps do not attempt, and it solves a specific problem: getting full lamp height onto a surface that has almost no room for it.

A typical 24 inch lamp sits on a base 11 to 13 inches across, which will occupy most of a small nightstand on its own. This one takes up a footprint barely wider than a coffee mug, leaving the rest of the surface free for a book, a glass and a phone. On a narrow bedside table, a hallway console, or a shelf, that is the difference between fitting and not.

The trade-off follows directly from the same proportion, and it is worth thinking about. A tall object on a small base is inherently less stable than a wide-based one, and the listing does not mention any added weight in the base. Ceramic is reasonably dense, so there is some mass there naturally, but this is not a lamp we would put within reach of a toddler or a cat that patrols the furniture.

Nor is it one to place where it gets knocked, because ceramic breaks rather than dents. On a stable surface at the back of a table, it is fine.

Ceramic does have a genuine advantage over painted metal: the colour is in the glaze rather than on the surface, so it will not chip or fade with sunlight and handling the way a spray finish eventually does. The listing leans on this and it is a fair point.

Bulbs are not included, which is worth budgeting for since most of the lamps in this category ship with them. The fitting is E26 with a 60 watt maximum, and the listing confirms compatibility with LED, halogen and incandescent.

That opens a small advantage. Because there is no touch dimming, you are not restricted to dimmable bulbs, so any standard E26 will work. For a bedside lamp, warm white around 2700K is the colour to choose, and a 60 watt equivalent LED draws only 8 to 10 actual watts, so the wattage ceiling is not a brightness limit in practice.

The two year warranty is worth noting on a ceramic product, where manufacturing flaws such as hairline glaze cracks may not show up immediately.

One practical note: the shade requires assembly, so these are not ready to place straight from the box.

The honest take

What we like

  • Full 24 inch height on a footprint barely wider than a mug
  • Leaves a small nightstand free for a book, glass and phone
  • Glazed ceramic colour cannot chip or fade the way spray paint does
  • No dimmable bulb requirement, so any standard E26 works
  • Two year warranty, useful on ceramic where flaws surface late

Worth knowing

  • Tall on a narrow base, and no weighted base is mentioned
  • Ceramic breaks rather than dents if knocked over
  • Bulbs not included, unlike most lamps in this category
  • No USB ports or charging, unlike the touch lamps
  • Shade needs assembling before use

Full height on a nightstand with no room
