Why we picked it

Raising the light source also raises the bottom edge of the shade, and if that edge sits above your eye level while sitting up in bed, you see the bulb rather than just the light. On a tall nightstand next to a low mattress, 22 inches may put the glare in your line of sight.

The practical check: measure from the floor to your eye level sitting up in bed, subtract your nightstand height, and see whether the answer is above or below 22 inches. Above, and these are right. Below, and a shorter lamp will be more comfortable.

The weighted base is a sensible detail on a lamp this tall, since height and a narrow profile are exactly what makes a lamp easy to knock over. Adding mass low down is the correct fix, and the listing is upfront that this is why.

Two smaller notes. The design patent number cited in the listing is unusual to see and is at least checkable through the USPTO database, though a design patent covers appearance rather than function or quality. And as with any touch lamp, replacement bulbs must be dimmable or the touch control will flicker or buzz.
