Floor Lamps
Floor lamps have a harder job than table lamps — they’re filling a whole corner of a room with usable light, which means the base needs to be genuinely stable, not just heavy enough to pass a quick shake test in a warehouse. We’re looking at base weight, arm and neck construction for adjustable styles, and whether the shade actually diffuses light evenly across a room instead of throwing a harsh spot. Arc lamps get special scrutiny here, since a poorly weighted arc lamp is one of the easier ways to end up with a lamp that tips. If it looks great but wobbles when you walk past it, it’s not on this list.
